Boba Taiwan Grading Overview:

Quality of the Boba Tea (QBT): 58.3/80

Quality of the Pearl: 31.4/40

  • Chewiness: 6.7/10 - The pearl is quite chewy, requiring around three to four chews to fully digest the pearl in the mouth.

  • Hard/softness: 7/10 - The pearls are very soft but maintain their spherical shape even after being chewed several times. Although slightly softer than normal, the pearls are unexpectedly enjoyable.

  • Relative size: 2.2/2.5 - The size of the boba is about average, albeit only the slightest bit too small for the straw and the mouth.

  • Amount of Pearl (relative to Volume of Drink): 1.9/2.5 - There is too little pearl in the drink.

  • Lumpiness: 5/5 - There were no lumps of pearls that made a jam in the straw, which resulted in full points.

  • Taste (or sweetness level): 4.1/5 - The pearl's aftertaste and taste are sweet and honey-like. Not an unpleasant taste, but neither extremely enjoyable.

  • Spherical quality and perfection (of pearl): 4.5/5 - The pearls are well made, maintaining their spherical shape even after chewing several times. The shapes of the pearls are consistent throughout the drink.

Quality of Tea: 26.9/40

  • Sweetness: 6/10 - The tea was on the less sweet side and mildly enjoyable.

  • Milkiness: 6/10 - There is slightly too much milk in the tea. However, because the drink ordered (bubble milk tea) and the store (Milksha) pronounced a milk-emphasized drink, this factor will not be taken too much into consideration but rather given average points.

  • Concentration of tea: 6/10 - There is too little tea in the drink.

  • Aftertaste: 3.6/5 - The aftertaste of the tea is mildly enjoyable, with hints of fresh milk and honey.

  • Wateriness: 5.3/10 - There is too little water in the drink and too little ice.

Quality of the Shop (QS): 12.8/20

  • Delivery Speed: 3/5 - The delivery speed was slow because there were many customers in line, with around a three-minute wait.

  • Quality of Store: 3.4/5 - The quality of the store was extremely well-kept and much larger than a regular bubble tea store. The space was bright and the tools used were clean and orderly.

  • Quality of Service: 3.4/5 - The waiter was extremely friendly and professional, keeping a positive and reserved tone. There were no mistakes made on their part and all interactions with customers were polite and amiable.

  • Quality of Utensils: 3/5 - The utensils used were mediocre, with the cup being average. The bag was classic and well-made. The straw entered the drink smoothly and without obstruction.

Note: The pearls used were white pearls instead of black pearls. No points will be added nor deducted but should be taken into consideration when visiting Milksha (white/translucent pearls are known to be healthier than black pearls)
